How Will Life On Earth End?

Approximately 4-4.5 billion years ago, the earth that is the third planet from the sun existed. Earth means “ground” from both English and German. It formed from a cloud of gas and dust. It also has a powerful magnetic field that is crucial for humanity. Distance from the sun is quite balanced which means it is not too hot and not too cold for us.

Scientists say that there are lots of variations in how life on earth will end. Here is the list of scenarios about the earth’s ending:

  •    Pandemics: One of the significant threats for ending a human life is pandemic. In history, plagues have destroyed across the world 15% of the population. Spanish flu was the worst one that killed over 50 million people worldwide. These days, the world is fighting against Covid-19. We have to get used to wearing masks because COVID-19 won’t be the last one. For this, vaccines and antibiotics are the greatest defence for virus outbreaks.

  •    Gene Technology: Gene technology is becoming more and more popular these days because it gives a chance to find new treatment ways for severe diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer. However, we have some problems with gene technology because we don't know how the new generation will exist after the gene therapies. In the hands of the wrong people, gene technology like CRISPR could be detrimental to humanity.

  •    Artificial Intelligence: AI is the most beneficial invention ever. In this industrialized world, AI is playing a significant role for us. This technology makes our life easier and more efficient. However, some researchers believe that this invention is the worst one in terms of privacy problems and occupations. Every passing year, robots are replacing humans in some ways. The hands of the wrong people, AI is the most dreadful technology.

  •    Nuclear Power: In the 1940s, nuclear energy became a great part of our lives. Nuclear energy promised to be a peaceful idea after nuclear weapons were raised. Nevertheless, lots of countries have nuclear power weapons to defend themselves Approximately 440 nuclear reactors were created around the world. Nuclear power causes extremely poisonous chemical elements such as plutonium. Many reactors are managing over a hundred thousand tons of nuclear waste that is a crucial problem. Many species are dying because of nuclear power pollution.

  •    Asteroid Impact: Approximately 66 million years ago, dinosaurs wiped out from the impact of asteroid hits. Asteroids have a huge potential of destroying the Earth every 120,000 years. In the future, it is really possible that a huge asteroid may destroy us.

  • Global Warming: It is the most significant thread because that problem grows silently. Especially since 2015, global warming with climate change has increased heavily which is a consequence of melting, wiping out species and rising sea level. After 20 or 25 years ago, we will definitely say “what have we done for nature” because the earth’s climate will change more. As a consequence of climate change, the world will become an unlivable planet.

The world is changing in terms of climate and productivity. However, this change is detrimental to the world. More than 30,000 of the animal species are threatened to extinction. Bees, hoverflies, and other insects are dying even though they perform a crucial role for humanity. High carbon dioxide rate, overpopulation, air and water pollution, pandemics, global warming, forest fires, climate change and others are signs that the earth is dying. Unfortunately, we do not hear its scream.
